Peter Doherty, WG’91
Peter Doherty, WG’91, originally trained as a mining engineer and has more than 35 years of mining industry and finance industry experience both in Australia and internationally. He is the principal of Republic Coal, which has held interests in a number of coal projects in Australia. He is also involved in family investments.
Prior to commencing his entrepreneurial journey in 2001, Peter worked in mining finance for organizations, including Enron Corporation, ABN AMRO Bank, and National Westminster Bank. He also worked in mining operations with Rio Tinto.
As well as an MBA from Wharton, Peter has a Bachelor of Engineering in mining engineering and a Bachelor of Economics.
Peter’s other interests include triathlons, Australian rules football, athletics, and traveling.
Peter has been involved in the Wharton Alumni Club of Australia since its inception in 1995.
