Ashok Jacob, WG’84, is the chairman and chief investment officer of Ellerston Capital (ECL). ECL is a Sydney-based asset management company.

Ellerston manages capital for sovereign funds, industry funds, corporate superannuation funds, high net-worth families, and retail investors. The asset classes covered include Australian equities, international equities, and alternative assets.

Mr. Jacob was previously the chief executive of Consolidated Press Holdings (CPH) from 2006 to 2011. Prior to that, he was the joint CEO of Consolidated Press from 1998 to 2006. During that period, Mr. Jacob was concurrently the chairman of HOYTS Cinema, a director of Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd. (PBL) and financial services group Challenger. (CPH is the holding company for the Packer family).  Other previous directorships include CPH Investment Corp., ECorp Ltd., Folkestone Limited, Snack Foods Limited, and Consolidated Media Holdings Limited.

Prior to that, he was the managing director of Thorney Holdings, the investment arm of the Pratt Group, from 1991 to 1998. He joined the Pratt Group in 1984. (Thorney Holdings is the family office for the Pratt family).

Mr. Jacob is the chairman of the Australia-India Council and a member of the Trade and Investment Policy Advisory Council (TIPAC).

Mr. Jacob is a member of the advisory board of Visy Australia and a director of Thorney Opportunities Limited. He is also a director of MRF Ltd. in Chennai, India and the Malayala Manorama Newspaper Group in Kottayam, India. He was a director of Crown Resorts from the date of its acquisition by PBL in 1998 to December 2014.

Mr. Jacob holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.Sc. from St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore, India.
